Great writeup, as usual. I didn’t know much about Arequipa previously, but it sounds way more my style than Lima. Might be worth a visit/stay at some point.
It's a great contrast from spending time in Lima, and even Cusco (too much altitude for long stays) - which are the two cities that Perú is mostly know for by tourist.
A very beautiful city for Latin American standards with a tonne of great things to do.
I was looking forward to this post and was not disappointed.
Arequipa sound like bliss. I took a group to Peru - Lima, Huacachina, Ica Sand dunes, Machu Picchu, Nazca ... I had a blast and LOVED Cuzco. Arequipa looks like a fantastic place for the wife and me to go spend some quality time as we really love the climate and the history.
Good to see TraderFerg getting some burn in that pic.
A book I loved on Peru and the Inca was "Last Days of the Inca". The author is from your part of the world I believe.
Hi Douglas, yes! That is exactly what Arequipa is perfect for, great museums and the historical centre is the nicest I've seen in Latin America, sit back at the restaurant's or cafes outside or even head to many of the rooftops with a view of the volcanoes.
Thanks for reading, I hope you make it there mate!

This sounds like a place I need to go.
Definitely mate.
Hidden Gem Ciudad 💎 I wonder how long till the LatAm Twitter Bro crowd discover it 🙃
Knowing Jordan’s reach on Twitter, probably not for long 😞
Looks very interesting mate, thanks for the impressions!
No worries, thanks for reading, an interesting place for sure.
